garage architecture II

fresh concreteWith the old garage gone, we’ve started work on the new one. The concrete subs came in a couple of weeks ago and poured the new slab, full of wire fabric and #4 rebar. The pour happened after a particularly rainy weekend, and the forms shifted slightly. This is concrete’s ultimate problem–having to hold thousands of pounds of liquid in place while it cures means that things often don’t end up where you expect or want them. In this case, though, it means only some bulging sides, which will be covered, soon enough, by dirt and grass. Only the chipmunks will notice.
