APTWGLC Lecture 5 April

February 8, 2011 § Leave a comment

I’ll be giving a lecture to the Western Great Lakes Chapter of the APT on Tuesday, April 5 at 5:30pm in the AIA Chicago conference room. The program will be co-sponsored by APTWGLC, the Construction History Society, and AIA Chicago HRC.  All are welcome, it’s open to the public and free of charge.  The subject will be the relationship of steel to wind bracing in 19th century skyscrapers, though I’ll show how some of these techniques persisted through the 20th century in some more recent examples.

I hugely enjoyed presenting to this group last year–an incredibly knowledgable bunch, with a good discussion afterwards.  So I’m excited to be returning, and hope to see some familiar and some new faces there.
